As we here at The Cypress Group ponder “Doing Good” this season, a question popped into our marketing-business-strategy clouded heads:
“What could be more fun that spending the evening mixing and mingling with some of New York’s finest while working to improve the lives of those affected by HIV?”
So pick up your phone, click onto your inter-web, or do whatever it is you people do and get your tickets for this years’ Bailey House Annual Auction on February 22nd.
“Snap Snap.”

Scene: January 19th 2012 as the Orange County Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers re-launched their annual Industry Partner trade show. Sporting a new venue and re-branded as the Interior Design Expo by ASID (IDEA), the event brought together some of OC’s most established design trade products and services in a casual format that allowed for product information and interaction. (It’s no secret that we here at The Cypress Group are very fond of multi-function events that allow for business development for everyone!).
In addition to running into our friends from Judy’s Custom Workroom, Cerno Lighting and Audiovisions, we were thrilled to run into part of our gang from the New York Metro Chapter of the ASID; Victoria and Albert Baths. We also discovered some grand up and coming products (have you checked out Salvage Design Company?). So, “Kudos” to everyone involved! We look forward to what is sure to be an even bigger event next year!

Scene: December 15th 2011 as the New York Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID NY Metro) turned the beautiful GE Monogram Design Center into a winter wonderland for their 2011 Holiday Celebration.
Aside from providing a glittering cast of some of New York’s brightest design talents, the evening showcased an incredible ginger bread candy palace created with the aid of some of the evenings sponsors (Victoria and Albert Baths, Vintage and Modern and Cassina to name a few!). Masterminded by event chair Jacqueline Hosford (of Jacqueline Hosford Designs), the piece was later donated to Manhattan’s Lower Eastside Service Center to bring to holiday cheer to the residents working through recovery.
In all, the evening was an excellent beginning to our own Holiday season here at The Cypress Group (where it isn’t always about marketing and business development all the time, mind you!).
A very merry beginning, indeed.

Last week, The Cypress Group had the pleasure of taking our small business marketing and business development message down to the Bisazza showroom in SoHo, as our Principal Consultant Joseph Aldrich spoke to a group of the American Society of Interior Designers Emerging Professionals about “Marketing. Yourself”.

Given the stunning product Bisazza creates, the evening was staged to perfection (thank you Scott Cook!). From recent grads through to career re-entry designers, attendees got a crash course on how to structure a small, personalized interior design business marketing strategy. Special thanks to Peti Lau and Simone Clayborn for bringing us into this wonderful evening!
But really, we’re sure you just want to see the photos? Right? Well, here they are:

Please take note:
1) We here at The Cypress Group are, indeed, firm believers of getting involved with associations and groups that work within your market as a way of driving your business forward.
2) Who said that is always conferences and seminars?
Exactly.

You have to love any invitation that starts out with:
When life gives you lemons, make Ketel One Lemon Drop Martinis.
Which is why we decided to pass along this event from the people at Social at SoCo. Go. Be Merry. Do Good.

If you happen to be an Emerging Professional with the American Society of Interior Designers New York Metro Chapter, might we suggest you give this event a look over?

The folks over at Design and Decoration Building threw their Fall Market Days last week. With lord know how many floors filled with design industry leaders, the two days really presented not only a great chance to see the latest and greatest products, but a bit of a scheduling conundrum: “where to go? who to see? what am I missing?”
Needless to say, the day was a great experience: from the keynote address from Architectural Digest, to and Schumacher hosting Martyn Lawrence-Bullard... through a great panel discussion (with one our favorites: Jonathan Adler) including a great soiree with Elle Decor at Zimmer & Rohde, it was a great experience. In addition to stepping into the New York design space, we had a blast visiting with everyone from uber fabulous Andrew Boepple from Strohl and Co, to the people from our fave Vintage and Modern.
The list, as they say, goes on…. .and on… and on…

For some odd reason, Fall brings about an abundance of “places to go and people to see” happenings. Now, as anyone associated with us here at The Cypress Group would tell you, this presents a great way to interact with your community. It doesn’t take much to realize that developing your community has, indeed, become one of the most important business development areas today’s business owners need to focus on. (btw.. we can help with that… )
So, if you happen to be an Interior Design Professional in Orange County, might we suggest the following event at Judy’s Custom Workroom in Aliso Viejo. The new Lilly Pulitzer for Kravet product line is all the rage these days and this is a great chance to check it out!
The pink champaign isn’t doesn’t sound so bad either! So, don’t forget to rsvp to Elizabeth@judyscustomworkroom.com today!

We asked you to “Save the Date”… so consider this your formal invitation:
Please join The Cypress Group at The Stonemill Design Center as they “Fall into Stonemill” via their autumn open house for design and shelter industry folks. Along with media sponsors Riviera Magazine/Modern Luxury Media, the evening is going to highlight a host of special events. (our favorite is the opportunity drawing benefiting The Stonemill Scholastic Fund.)
