As we here at The Cypress Group ponder “Doing Good” this season, a question popped into our marketing-business-strategy clouded heads:
“What could be more fun that spending the evening mixing and mingling with some of New York’s finest while working to improve the lives of those affected by HIV?”
So pick up your phone, click onto your inter-web, or do whatever it is you people do and get your tickets for this years’ Bailey House Annual Auction on February 22nd.
“Snap Snap.”

Scene: January 19th 2012 as the Orange County Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers re-launched their annual Industry Partner trade show. Sporting a new venue and re-branded as the Interior Design Expo by ASID (IDEA), the event brought together some of OC’s most established design trade products and services in a casual format that allowed for product information and interaction. (It’s no secret that we here at The Cypress Group are very fond of multi-function events that allow for business development for everyone!).
In addition to running into our friends from Judy’s Custom Workroom, Cerno Lighting and Audiovisions, we were thrilled to run into part of our gang from the New York Metro Chapter of the ASID; Victoria and Albert Baths. We also discovered some grand up and coming products (have you checked out Salvage Design Company?). So, “Kudos” to everyone involved! We look forward to what is sure to be an even bigger event next year!

As you may be aware, we here at The Cypress Group are firm believers in working to improve the lives of people in our communities who are struggling to maintain a quality of life while facing adverse conditions. Each year we select an organization to to partner with that exemplifies this commitment. We have coined this our “Do Good” program. In the past few years we have worked to combat homelessness, fund AIDS/HIV programs and create better lives for people battling cancer.
In 2012 we will continue to promote our “Do Good” outreach program (after all, life is much more than marketing, business development, web interfaces or social media!). Rather then lay it all out for you, we thought we would tease you with a sneak peak…. and yes… it’s kinda’ a big deal!

Scene: December 15th 2011 as the New York Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID NY Metro) turned the beautiful GE Monogram Design Center into a winter wonderland for their 2011 Holiday Celebration.
Aside from providing a glittering cast of some of New York’s brightest design talents, the evening showcased an incredible ginger bread candy palace created with the aid of some of the evenings sponsors (Victoria and Albert Baths, Vintage and Modern and Cassina to name a few!). Masterminded by event chair Jacqueline Hosford (of Jacqueline Hosford Designs), the piece was later donated to Manhattan’s Lower Eastside Service Center to bring to holiday cheer to the residents working through recovery.
In all, the evening was an excellent beginning to our own Holiday season here at The Cypress Group (where it isn’t always about marketing and business development all the time, mind you!).
A very merry beginning, indeed.

Happy Holidays from The Cypress Group!

From our family to yours; we wish you a Holiday Season warm with happiness and a New Year filled with joy!
Until next year!

Given that 2011 is winding down (don’t be mad at us, for we are just the messengers!), we have been talking to our clients in Southern California about their marketing and business development plans/strategy for 2012. (Advance planning being one of the things we here at The Cypress Group are BIG proponents of).
In doing some research – and by research we mean surfing our blog rolls and sources to see what the big new trends in marketing are looking like – we came across this great infographic about what Digital Marketing budgets are looking like for Corporate America. It’s from the folks over at Marketing123, and while you may not see yourself in it directly, rest assured; be it social media, print, event, educational sessions or any other number of programs, you can find something useful in this stuff as a tool to grow your business.
(shameless plug: If you can’t figure it out… well, that is where we come in. Feel free to call us!)

Did someone say “Wow”?
While it seems lifetimes ago, by chance do you remember our “Do Good 2011” campaign? (If, by chance, you don’t: along with working with our clients on their marketing and business development projects, we here at The Cypress Group worked to raise money benefiting families affected by blood cancers here in Orange County). Well, to bring it all together, this great letter from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) showed up.
Looks like a lot of folks worked to do a lot of good! Bravo to all!

Greetings from The Cypress Group!
In between pulling out your Fall sweaters and getting your kids back to school, take a moment and check out the September issue of “OC Metro” Orange County’s premier business publication. There, right in the middle, you will notice this month’s CEO Centerfold:

A big “Thank you” the wonderful people at Churm Media and their talented staff. I am thrilled to be associated with a media group who has come to define “business community” in Orange County.
This month caps off the end of a great summer here at The Cypress Group. We have been gearing up for a MAJOR announcement later this month, so stay tuned for that. (So major, it will get an email of it’s very own!).
Until then, as we head into the last quarter of the year, we would love to speak to you about your marketing and business development plans for 2012. (Yes, I said it!). Thus, if you would like to know more about how The Cypress Group can help your business, or if you know a business that might need our help, please feel free to contact us at 949.444.8121.
Until next time!

Nothing beats sitting down with a cup of coffee, strumming through a copy of Orange Coast Magazine and seeing editorial mention of a client.

Yep. So, in case you missed it, The Cypress Group client Designers’ Resource Collection and their wonderful line of outdoor furniture from Germany based Dedon graced the pages of the June issue of Orange Coast Magazine.
Now, we aren’t going to say we had anything to do with getting them onto the page, but we sure are having a great time marketing this mention out! (after all, we do marketing stuff, not so much PR stuff!) Business development, as they say, is a multi faceted thing.
Enjoy!

Part of what we do here at The Cypress Group is working with business owners to make sure that the way the market sees their company is the same way THEY see their company. (translation: does your company look to everyone else the way it looks in your boardroom? Better yet, does that “image” resonate with people who might part with money with you?).
Call it marketing, call it business development, it’s just what we do!
Now, this presents a two fold challenge. First we have to figure out WHO that target set of eyes belongs to. (hence the “Target” portion of our Services menu!). Then, we flip the tables and see your brand through their eyes. Sometimes it’s “All good”. Other times it may be “Let’s change this a tad” or “You know, maybe we ought to just start over”.

Enter Bridget Soden and Creative Vortex: From simple logo re-coloring to full project rebranding, Bridget has become our go-to for all things graphics related.

While we could go on and on and on about how great Creative Vortex is to engage with on a project, really it comes down to the quality of the work we are able to provide to OUR clients! Goodness knows, you have been seeing quite a bit of it here under “Projects We Love“. Equally as important is the ease with which it is produced. Anyone in any type of business knows the value of good partnerships and this, kind readers, is a relationship we value!
